Restoration of Hurricane P3708

Restoration of Hurricane P3708 …………..

The two 9 ft long main spars which form the core of the Hurricane’s centre section have now been fabricated. P3708’s original spars were completely destroyed when the aircraft was lost so these spars have been made from a variety of original Hurricane pieces but do include sizeable chunks from P3708.

The four girders which connect the two spars to form the centre section’s basic frame have already been formed and tested for fit. Now disassembled their individual parts are undergoing preservation treatment prior to painting and reassembly.

The work mentioned above is taking place off-site.  Before the autumn sets in, the assembled 9ft x 4ft centre section frame should be in the hangar.
