Looking forward \u2026 Volunteers and Special Events<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

The Museum relies heavily on its special event days. This year they accounted for around \u00a35,000 of income, over and above what we would otherwise expect. That represents around 7% of our income for the year; a very important chunk, and the difference between trading at a profit or a loss.<\/p>\n

We are all quite busy people, and many already help as much as they can. I know that I cannot make all of the special days to help, but try to get to as many as I can. The more Volunteers we can get in on these days, the better the visitor experience, and the more likely it is that visitors will return.<\/p>\n

So, \u2018part one\u2019 of this blog is an appeal for help. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

If you are free – we can find you a job! Preferably let us know in advance if you can come, and any preferences that you have regarding a role. You don’t have to be a regular Volunteer to come along and help, just keen (well, keen-ish will do!)<\/p>\n

The second part of this blog is looking further ahead somewhat;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In 2022 the Museum will reach its 50th anniversary. It would be really good to mark this in a big way and \u2018up\u2019 our profile with a series of events that are tailored for the celebration (in addition to existing events, and\/or in conjunction with them). If we are going to make this happen, then we need to start planning it very soon. Again, a volunteer is needed to coordinate this, and we would probably want to recruit a small team to assist them.<\/p>\n
