No.: VYO417G\/ J2522 (Jersey)\/ Q368KEW<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Surplus to the Museum requirements, and not in keeping with the rest of the Museum exhibits, the Thornycroft Foam Tender is currently stored outside and is being disposed&nbsp;of as seen, in an \u201cas is\u201d condition.&nbsp; Moving this vehicle will require some considerable effort, and it will need to be transported on a substantial trailer\/low loader.&nbsp; The engine currently will not start.<\/p>\n<p>The space being taken up by the Tender is earmarked for a new Educational Centre and the monies recovered from the sale will be used as part of that project to help fund the building for use by visiting schoolchildren and groups.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Further information and photographs<\/strong><\/span> can be obtained by sending an email to \u2026\u2026&nbsp; <a href=\"mailto:bloginfo@aviationmuseum.net\">bloginfo@aviationmuseum.net<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Price:<\/strong><\/span>&nbsp; Terms are negotiable depending on the status of the buyer with preference being given to accredited&nbsp;museums and the vehicle could be gifted to them.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Details of the Foam Tender:<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>We think the Tender was built by Thornycroft between 1964-1968 and was once fitted with a 3-ton dry powder unit &#8211; also used for light water demonstrations for the MOD, and as a Pyrene demonstrator.<\/p>\n<p>It has a Rolls-Royce engine, and the bodywork was originally painted red. This machine is thought to have been trialled by the RAF as a replacement for the Mk.6 but not adopted.&nbsp; It was at Filton during the Concorde maiden and test flights and may have been at Farnborough.<\/p>\n<p>The Tender then went to Jersey Airport Fire Service &#8211; painted yellow &#8211; as J2522 with call-sign \u201cCrash 66\u201d in October 1969 and served there until donated to IWM Duxford in March 1984.
