School Visit – St. Michael’s V.A. Junior School Bowthorpe<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

We had two visits from the children at St. Michael’s V.A. Junior School, Bowthorpe<\/strong><\/span>. The first of the visits was on the 6th November and the second group visited on the 13th November. <\/p>\n

The children were studying World War II and whilst at the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum<\/strong><\/span> had the opportunity to study evacuees, the home front, Bomber Command and 446th Bomb Group who were at Flixton during WWII.  They also tried their hand on our flight simulators and visited our Anderson Air Raid Shelter experience.<\/p>\n

We had two great days and I’m sure the children now understand how hard it was for people living through these times.   <\/p>\n

Looking at the school blog, it is evident from the comments made by the pupils that the visit was indeed worthwhile. <\/p>\n

The school said that “Children in Y6 had a brilliant time at Flixton Air Museum and the pupils in 6S and 6HS can\u2019t wait to go after hearing what a great time the rest of the year group had.<\/span><\/p>\n

Some pupils remarked:<\/p>\n

  • Ollie \u2018My favourite part of the trip was being able to go inside the Wellington plane and try on the gas masks, I also loved trying out the plane simulator\u2019<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Dylan \u2018I learnt all about the bunkers and experienced what it would be like to have to stay inside them during an air raid\u2019<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Gabriella \u2018I enjoyed learning how to fly! Finding out if I would be good at navigation and controlling the plane\u2019<\/span><\/li>\n
  • 6LB \u2018We would highly recommend visiting.\u2019<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Oakley \u2018I enjoyed flying the plane simulation and learning about how children were evacuated\u2019.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
