The area we wish to expand next is the Link Room \/ Flight Simulator area.&nbsp; To do this, we need additional volunteers to be available for the computer-based simulators and also the historic Link Trainers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If you feel you can help and would like to volunteer, then please send an email to <a href=\"mailto:volunteer@aviationmuseum.net\">volunteer@aviationmuseum.net<\/a> or complete the form at the foot of the blog.&nbsp; We would like more than one or two people to apply, so please&nbsp;contact us and see if you can help.<\/p>\n<p>The description of the Volunteer Role is below.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Role_description_for_Volunteer_Flight_Simulator_Instructor\"><\/span>Role description for Volunteer Flight Simulator Instructor<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong><u>Primary role<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The primary role of the Volunteer is to enhance the visitor experience by allowing visitors to take part in a flight in one of the Computer-Based Flight Simulators.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Secondary roles<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The secondary role of all volunteers is to engage with visitors to enhance their experience whilst visiting the museum. This could include offering access to aircraft (with agreement from Curator or Trustees), and\/or explanation of the various guns available for visitors to handle. The secondary role whilst volunteering in this Link Room area is to Boot up, and close down, the computers that are used for Flight Simulation and other displays etc.<\/p>\n<p>Under certain circumstances, the Link Trainers may also be operated, provided two trained operators are available.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Key_competencies_required\"><\/span>Key competencies required<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Communication<\/li>\n<li>Presentation<\/li>\n<li>Empathy with young people<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Skills_and_knowledge_possessed\"><\/span>Skills and knowledge possessed<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The applicant should be computer literate, however&nbsp;training in the precise areas to be presented will be available. The volunteer should also be able to understand some areas of the museum in order to be able to explain these to the visitors when they ask questions.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Training_available\"><\/span>Training available<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Existing staff will be available&nbsp;to train the volunteer in the use of the different flight simulators available, and to explain a typical profile flown that allows the visitor to experience a reasonable flight, without that flight being open-ended.<\/p>\n<p>Existing staff can also train in the handling of the guns and also to use of the Link Trainers.
