Junior Engineering Day ……

The date for the next of these has been set, put Tuesday 10th April in your diaries now. We are open for bookings. These can be submitted via our web page at::

The current number of places available for each session are shown on the web page, and we will keep these as up to date as possible. Most of the sessions, except where indicated, are aimed at 11-14 year olds.

We are offering another two options compared to the last Junior Engineering Day, on offer this time are:

Metalwork – Mark up, prepare and rivet some aluminium
Woodwork – Mark up, cut out, drill some of the wood and build a bird box, paint it up and wait for the birds to arrive
Engine Maintenance – Learn how to strip, and most importantly, re-assemble a four-stroke internal combustion engine
Electronics – Learn how to read a circuit diagram and solder, then construct a simple circuit. In the afternoon, for those that attended the session last year or the morning one, a chance to have a go at a more advanced circuit (note that this assumes that you can read a circuit diagram and solder).
Electrics – Learn how to wire up a household circuit, then test it.
Flight Simulation – Learn how to fly a circuit in one of our simulators. Not just a quick test flight, by the end of this session you will be able to take-off, fly the circuit and land the aircraft.
Craft – Aimed at a younger audience, 7-10. In the morning design and decorate a keepsake box to put your football medals, jewellery, or anything in. In the afternoon make a paper banner for your bedroom.

Note that these are separate sessions. The cost is £15 for one session, or £25 if the same young person takes part in two sessions. Those already named family members of the museum £10 per session.
