Family Fun day 28th July 2019

Sunday 28th July saw over 1000 people visiting the museum. There was lots of activities for them to try their hands at, bowling for a pig, knocking down the pile of dice, flying a flight simulator, making and flying a stomp rocket and much more.

The day also saw the handover of a pedal plane built from a kit by our carpenter’s team to the Sunbeam Club of Great Yarmouth. Several members of the club came over for the day to see the new acquisition and try it out for size. Apart from one minor problem, the plane was too large to fit in the back of the car supposed to take it back to the club, was quickly overcome by sending for a trailer. Thanks are due to Stewart Luck of the Light Aeroplane Association Youth and Education Strut for making the link up between the club and the museum.

The day also saw the first use of our new Helicopter Flight Simulator. This is linked up to our Sycamore cab controls and displays on a large screen inside the cockpit. It is VERY hard to fly and of around 200 sorties only four ended in a landing, the rest were all crashes! The pilot has to concentrate on five things at once, and coordinate all of them at once!
