NASAM Update as of the 13th Apr 2024

In This Edition

Summary of Contents

In this edition of the blog “Museum News“, we have a short video produced from photos taken from the Facebook page of the Norfolk Mini Owners Club, who visited the Museum on Saturday, the 30th of March 2024, and who allowed us to use the photos from their Facebook page.

At the moment, we have no photos from the Easter Egg Hunt on behalf of the East Anglia Air Ambulance, which was held on Sunday, March 31st, 2024.

More photos also from the Norfolk Internal Combustion Engine Society Day at Flixton on Sunday, the 7th of April 2024.  This time a mixture of photos from Joe at the Museum and a visitor Mark, who kindly sent in a number of photos of the event.

From the Teams “Inside and Outside – The Museum“, we have updates from Barry in the Paint Team on their work around the Museum in some inclement weather.

In “Event Information“, we have details of the remaining event booked for April at the Museum.  This is another car visit, this time with a touch of the Orient and the Northamptonshire MX5 Club.

These are pictures from the Norfolk Mini Owners Club’s visit to the Museum on Saturday, the 30th of March, 2024.  Laura Anne Photography took the photos for the Norfolk Mini Owners Club to use on their Facebook page.

The Mini Owners set out from the GRIDSERVE forecourt in Norwich and stopped over at the Flixton Museum as part of their run through to the Southwold Boating Lake and the end of their journey.

Norfolk Internal Combustion Engine Society

The Norfolk Internal Combustion Engine Society (NICE) visited the Museum for its annual outing to display several of its engines and static displays. The event was well attended, and the photos below come from both Joe at the Museum and Mark, who was a visitor on the day and gave us access to several of his photos for us to publish.

Reminder – Event Postponement

Please note that the East Coast Pirates‘ visit to the Museum on Sunday, the 12th of May, 2024, has been postponed.

We are hoping that the visit of Great Yarmouth’s largest car club can be re-organised for a later date.

Stay in touch for more details as soon as they are known.

Paint Team Updates

03/04/24 – How wet can you get!

Well folks, with Mr UK Weather indicating a day of sharp showers and with more aircraft to pressure wash, it was never going to be a dry one, was it?

Sensibly, the Skipper (Cliff) decided to stay at home and have an admin day, while Gwen went off in search of things to paint green. In between the showers, Gwen set about giving the portakabins a bit of a tickle (see pic 01).

In the middle paddock, the boys donned their ‘full wets’ and turned their attention (and their hoses) towards the Bloodhound Missile battery. As penalty for draft dodging last week’s washing fest, Barry was sent up to the top of the Bloodhound van to wash the radar dishes and other assorted gubbins. Next door on the missile itself, Mark and Ian deployed the Karcher extendable wand in order to reach the parts that other washers cannot reach (see pic 02). It soon became apparent why yours truly had been sent up the van as with a fresh breeze copious amount of ‘overspray’ from the big wand landed on top of the van and anyone standing on top of the van! See what they did there.

Fed up with getting doused, Barry then departed to find another plane to wash. Down in the front paddock, following the clean up of the Mystere last week, the T33 was looking especially grubby (see pic 03). More Dirty Bird than Thunderbird. Despite Ian trying to sabotage things by tripping the electrics with a dodgy MacAllister, Barry managed to get the T33 cleaned just before close of play (see pic 04).

The day ended with three wet painters drying out over a cuppa and two pressure washers consigned to the skip. With the team now down to just two serviceable pressure washers, Agent Kellerher (Karcher surely? – Ed.) was tasked with sourcing another (proper) yellow one for next week.

The Repeat Info

Here we are in 2024 and the repeat information is still here I’m afraid, and I make no apologies for keeping his section in our blog.  We are a charitable organisation relying on monies from the public to keep us going.  Any help we receive is gratefully accepted and enables the museum to continue in our mission “To conserve, preserve and promote the history of aviation in East Anglia, whilst providing a fun, family-friendly and interactive museum, promoting education and remembrance of the events of the past“.

Are you thinking of helping ??

We obtain most of our finances by donations and by membership fees.  We save money by having a dedicated group of volunteers that keep the museum and the exhibits both manned and maintained. We hope therefore a few people may consider helping in the ways below.

There are three easy ways to help:  Help by becoming a Museum Member, also by Volunteering to help at the museum, or by Donating to assist in our running costs. Please click on the appropriate button below to access the appropriate information:
