1st April 2018 .. East Anglian Air Ambulance Easter Egg Hunt …..
Despite the cold and damp Easter weather, or perhaps because of it, the museum was thronged by hunters of the Easter Egg. The trail tent was busy from the moment that we opened the gates until late afternoon. The supply of Easter Eggs held out, JUST!
The trail raised just under £500 for the Air Ambulance, the raffle with its 50 prizes adding just over £200 to that figure. Thanks should be recorded to Morrison’s, Clays the printers and Bookers. In addition, lots of member of the museum donated eggs and raffle prizes to ensure that there were lots for everyone.
The trail took people young and old around every part of the museum searching for the answers to 31 clues (it should have been 32, but one artefact was removed days before the event!). Around six people found the correct answer to all of the clues, with most people getting 28 or 29 correct.
The museum’s push planes proved ever popular with lots of our youngest visitors exploring the hangars via a moving seat. The interactive displays also proved popular with our helicopter enjoying its first exercise since repair of the burned out motor. Lots of youngsters tried their hand at flying our flight simulators and got hands-on experience with World War II guns.

The day also saw the public debut of the museum’s display set up for the 100th anniversary of the RAF; sadly we didn’t get the chance to move the screen, that this is on, to a more prominent position.
We were joined on the day by the River Waveney Trust with various activities, Choklit whose products looked very tempting and the RSPB who had a stall.
The ever-popular DJ Flying Fortress were also present with their period costumes and dancing adding to the festival spirit.
All in all a good day.
