Veteran Bikers Ride of Remembrance

The Veteran Bikers called at the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum on Tuesday 28th August 2018 as part of their “Ride of Remembrance”.  The bikers are spending eight days on a motorcycle tour of Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, this leg being the third day.  They are raising funds for Combat Stress, the Royal British Legion and the RAF100 Appeal.  The ride-out has been organised by Paul Martin of the Biker Veterans Ride of Remembrance.

The riders assembled on the morning at Wickham Market and then rode onto the Norfolk & Suffolk Aviation Museum at Flixton arriving at around 10.15.  Whilst at the museum, the riders carried out an Act of Remembrance which including a wreath laying at the foot of one of the Museum Memorials.  After the wreath laying, some of the riders proceeded to the old Bungay airfield to visit the Memorial there which is dedicated to the 446 Bomb Group and is located on the what was Station 125 and the home of the Bungay Buckeroos.

This leg of the Bikers trip was sponsored by Orwell Motorcycles Ltd of Ipswich, and their Manager, Rob rode with the bikers.

There was also a small British Legion presence with standard bearers.  The service was officiated by Phill Turner, Chairman of the Royal British Legion Lowestoft, along with the Branch Secretary Ian Gadsden.  The standard Bearers were provided by the Bungay branch of the Royal British Legion, Barry Willson and the Area Standard Bearer Bruce Firth-Clark.
