Hunter gets a Repaint
The centrepiece at the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum must surely be the Hawker Hunter FGA.9 XG254 which sits outside the main hangar doors. In the Spring of this year, it was decided, because it looked rather dull and dispirited, that the Paint Team would give it a new coat of paint.
In April, therefore, Gwen and her small team set about power washing the aircraft to rid it of the dust and detritus which had accumulated.
The aircraft was sanded down and primed in May whenever the good weather allowed.
In June the final top coat was applied, and the detailed work of roundels, numbers and Squadron markings were finished off in early July.
The Paint Team have now moved onto the Sea Prince to start that aircraft repaint.
