Today at the Museum – Tuesday 4th Sep 2018
A relatively quiet day at the Museum today, however on calling in at the Archives Section to see what had been donated recently, I found that today, a model B-24 Liberator had been donated.
The scale model was built and donated by Mr David Hopkins. It is a model of the “Kentucky Belle” 44 – 40268. This particular Liberator flew with the 706th Bomb Squadron of the 446th Bomb Group and was stationed at Bungay, “Station #125”, in Suffolk. It is thought that the aircraft flew some 67 missions in Europe, it did survive WWII and was returned to the USA after the war.
As the model has relevance to the museum, it will now be catalogued and then displayed in the 446th Bomb Group Museum on site.
Beautiful model; great to have it on display.
Nice acquisition.
