Renovation of 446th Bomb Group Memorial Stone, Flixton Airfield, UK.
In June, group member Brett Stringfellow commented on a Facebook page that the plaques on the 446 Bomb Group airfield Memorial Stone were a bit faded.
Groundforce team from Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum, who maintain the site, have investigated the restoration of colours on the plaques.
We have arranged for the in-house artists at Perfitt, the masons who carved the stone, to restore the colours, for a cost of £ 570 (US$ 740). The restoration will be a two-day process for a two-person team and will be carried out in situ. Work will begin soon to avoid complications due to weather.
Should any of our friends in the United States or Worldwide feel able to assist the museum with the cost of this work, donations ** would be greatly appreciated.
