Today at the Museum – Wednesday 27th Feb 2019
The Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum received a visit today from a group with Albatross Travel.
Twenty-five people were on the tour, of whom 16 opted for a guided tour from two of our volunteers around various parts of the museum. The group had excellent weather for their visit, but did discover that hangars are excellent at retaining cold air in the early part of the day.
The guided tours visited our Valetta aircraft, learned about the Royal Observer Corps, RAF Air Sea Rescue, 446th Bomber Group and RAF Bomber Command. They also learned a bit about the history of Ejector Seats and the history of the Link Trainers.
Some of the group lived near Chester and several had worked at RAF Sealand where our Spitfire was on display many years ago.
They also enjoyed hot drinks in the sunshine during their visit.
What great weather they had for their visit. They all seemed to be enjoying themselves.
A great day and an awesome surprise to see the RAF Sealand Spitfire gate guardian in the collection, this will bring back many memories to our ex RAF Sealand colleagues.
