Chippies and Ground Force Combine for New Signage

Chippies and Ground Force Combine for New Signage

It has been a while since you had an update from the chippy workshop.

We have been working hard all through the winter months up-dating the museum shop, doing repairs around the museum, making doors and frames for the new workshop that the engineers are building.

David Hardisty has been repairing the children’s sit in Red Arrows airplane and the sit in Air Sea rescue boat that sits outside the Air Sea Rescue building.

Tony is making bird tables, bird boxes, bug boxes, a bat box and helping with other things that need attention.

The team also refurbished Griffin’s cat house, which sat outside the shop until his departure in January of this year.  This has now been purchased and gone off to a new location and a new occupant.

David Dawson is repairing airplanes, painting steps around the museum so people can see the edge of the steps.  Safety of our visitors is paramount (it also helps us oldies).

The old canopy above the entrance to the main hangar needed repairing, and David Hardisty suggested that while the repairs are going ahead, to ought to have a new sign made.  This was left in the hands of Ashley, and what a good job he has done.

Ashley was also responsible for obtaining the new sign that welcomes visitors to the Museum near the main road.  This points visitors into the site and shows the speed limit as people arrive.  On the way out, the visitors are directed straight to the main road and not through the Buck Inn car park which has caused traffic problems in the past when it has been busy.

Ground Force did the heavy lifting on this one (literally) assembling and installed the sign, thanks guys.
