School Visit 18th June 2019 – Harleston School
We were visited on Tuesday 18th June 2019 by Harleston school who are studying World War II. They had gone to some trouble to look the part as well, as can be seen from the photo below.
Whilst at the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum they learned about what it was like to be an evacuee, and they had a chance to sit in an Anderson Shelter and listen to a simulated air raid. They also saw artefacts from both RAF Bomber Command and the USAAF 446th Bomber Group who were based here at Flixton.
The final base was an introduction to aircraft controls on one of our flight simulators.
At the end of the visit, the children sang some Second World War songs that they had learnt.
A good day was had by all.
