Father’s day thank you
My sister and I visited Flixton aviation museum with our Father yesterday (Sunday 16th June 2019).
As soon as our Dad walked into the Naafi hanger he said “this is magical” as he recognised the De Havilland Vampire T.11 and the Hunting Percival Provost T.1 (both aircraft that he had flown in the Royal Navy).
He was fortunate to meet Huby Fairhead who spent time chatting to him and even fetched his laptop to show Dad different aircraft and old photographs.
Dad was also really happy to see the Westland Whirlwind HAS.7 that he had also flown.
He spent time in the Ken Wallis Hall and told my sister and I about the time he had met the Wing Commander.
We all thoroughly enjoyed our day, including the coffee and cakes and also the pretty board walk to the River Waveney.
My sister and I particularly enjoyed hearing Dad’s stories from long ago.
Thankyou to all you wonderful people who give up your time and keep these amazing historical events and memories available for all generations to see, hear and learn from.
Kind regards
Belinda (sister Jakki and Des).
