Sunday 28th July saw over 1000 people visiting the museum for our annual family fun day. Sadly the weather precluded the hoped for flypast by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Dakotas, but there were lots of other activities for visitors to try. They could make and fly a Stomp Rocket, try their hand at bowling for a pig, fly one of our computer based flight simulators or get a close look at some Russian weapons.
The day also saw the handover of a pedal plane to the Sunbeam Club of Great Yarmouth. Our carpenters had built the plane from a kit supplied to the club and several club members came over to try out plane. Thanks must go to Stewart Luck for making the connection between the club and museum.
It was also the first full day of operation for our helicopter flight simulator. The simulator is built into our Sycamore cab and operated via its controls. Around 80 people tried their hand at it, with over 200 sorties flown exactly four resulted in landings, the rest crashes. It is hard to fly!

A great day. So good to see so many children enjoying the activities.
