Link Room VII – Light Warning Radar Display @ NASAM
The D Day planners decided that a light, simple radar, easily moved, was needed for D Day and the subsequent battles. So was born the AMES 6 family of radars, also known as TGRI 5109 or TGRI 5124. The complete radar and operating crew could be carried in a 3-ton lorry. If radio communication facilities were needed, it required a further lorry.
Indicator Unit Type 74 was the display unit covering a 50-mile radius. This unit is on show at the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum.
