Last Call for Junior Engineers
Bookings now being taken for the Junior Engineer Day @ NASAM
We still have a few booking places available for the next Junior Engineering Day at the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum which is on Tuesday 22nd October 2019.
Young People can try their hand at Metalwork, Woodwork, Engine Maintenance or Electronics in our fully equipped workshops. They can also learn how to navigate an aeroplane, fly a circuit in a flight simulator, wire up a house circuit or, for younger participants, have a go at craft activities. We also have a few places on the new subject of Engineering Technical Drawing.
Further details and the BOOKING FORM can be found on our main website at Junior Engineering Day
At the last session back in May this year, 18 youngsters took part in the Engineering Day and completed 30 sessions between them. The activities included constructing some simple electronic circuits after first learning to solder and read a circuit diagram. Assembling a birdbox from wood components, making a tool rack from first principles, from metal.
Others learned how to fly a light aeroplane on our simulators so that they could fly a circuit from take off, climb, turns, then land back on the same runway. Another activity was learning how to navigate an aeroplane through the vagaries of the wind and what sort of features to look for whilst flying.
The younger participants had a couple of craft activities to choose from and could decorate a keepsake box and/or make a nameplate.
With free entry and free parking, many parents and family take the opportunity to wander around the museum or make use of the NAAFI café.
