Junior Engineering @ NASAM …
On Tuesday 22nd October 2019 the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum welcomed 15 young people to its autumn Junior Engineering Day. The youngsters were able to assemble a bird box in the carpenters workshop, build a pair of bookends in the engineering workshop, some stripped a lawnmower engine down, learned the function of all the parts, then put it back together again.
One youngster learned technical drawing, several built an electronics project, and some learned to fly our computer-based flight simulators to the standard of flying a circuit around the field and successfully landing again.
For the younger attendees, there was the chance to have a go at several craft projects, including a snowman countdown advent calendar with carrot indicator.
The Junior Engineering Day is part of the Suffolk and Essex Children’s University scheme and is part of East Anglian STEM initiative.
Thanks to all the volunteers who made this possible.
