Update on Pirates at the Museum

East Coast Pirates @ NASAM

Chairman’s Update on the Event

On Sunday 8th May the museum had what we are reasonably sure was our busiest ever day. It was far too busy to count everyone but we estimate that over 1200 people visited. This included The East Coast Pirates themselves with around 100 classic cars, an MG club with a few cars and The Yamaha Virago Star Owners’ Club with ten motorcycles.

We can only apologise to those visitors who were unable to get in, by early afternoon we had filled the museum’s own grounds, the Buck Inn’s overflow car park and a local field that we are able to use on really busy days. There was simply no space left anywhere.

The day was graced with glorious weather and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight completed three flypasts with a Hurricane aircraft.

Shortly before the museum closed a Harvard also performed a number of flypasts.

We were also joined by a group of 40s style dancers who entertained guests throughout the afternoon.

All in all a very memorable day.

Looks like a great day, hope you had sufficient volunteers. I love the classic cars day but on this occasion was on my way back from Kent.
