Museum Closed over Weekend
This is the final reminder that if you are planning to visit the Museum on either Saturday, the 30th of September or Sunday, the 1st of October 2023, please be aware that the Museum will be closed to the general public.
Around 500 Beaver Scouts aged between 6 and 8 will be at the Museum during this weekend to use the Museum facilities to work towards two aviation skills badges. They will be undertaking various activities in addition to exploring the Museum to find the answers to a quiz and trying on various items of flying clothing.
So, in order to keep the youngsters safe, we have decided to close the Museum to the public.
We apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused to our regular visitors.

Chairman’s Update
Battle of Britain Day
The day dawned bright but sadly didn’t stay that way for long. The day did prove to be very busy though with over 300 “through the gates”.
We were joined on the day by RAFA who ran two stalls based under gazebos outside. Luckily whilst the weather was far from perfect it never got too bad.
We were also entertained by five singers of Station 366 (Swing Group) who sang period songs in the NAAFI area.
Unfortunately despite trying, the Lancaster was unable to get through the weather to complete the scheduled flypast. Even more disappointing was the fact that thirty minutes later it brightened up and dried up too.
The afternoon was pleasant and warm and several visitors took the opportunity to try the cockpits and ejector seat for size and try their hand at flying one of our PC-based simulators.
Many thanks to the Battle of Britain Flight for trying to get through to us, and to all the volunteers who kept things running smoothly on the day.
Thanks also to Herbert and Julie from RAFA for supporting us for the last time before they retire from the role. We wish them well and hope that we’ll see them again as visitors.

The Repeat Info
The repeat information is still here I’m afraid, and I make no apologies for keeping his section in our blog. We are a charitable organisation relying on monies from the public to keep us going. Any help we receive is gratefully accepted and enables the Museum to continue in our mission “To conserve, preserve and promote the history of aviation in East Anglia, whilst providing a fun, family-friendly and interactive Museum, promoting education and remembrance of the events of the past“.
Are you thinking of helping ??
We obtain most of our finances by donations and by membership fees. We save money by having a dedicated group of volunteers that keep the Museum and the exhibits both manned and maintained. We hope therefore a few people may consider helping in the ways below.
There are three easy ways to help: Help by becoming a Museum Member, also by Volunteering to help at the Museum, or by Donating to assist in our running costs. Please click on the appropriate button below to access the appropriate information:
