Historic Weapons Display Group Day – 3rd September 2017 ………
The Historic Weapon Display Group (HWDG) organised a display at Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum on Sunday 3rd September 2017. This year’s event was blessed with good weather, and we could set up our display outside under the Canberra.
In total, the group displayed 38 deactivated guns ranging from a 1939 Vickers gun to a Glock 17 pistol.
Lester and Keith were manning the Vickers gun so that children and adults can have their photos taken.
Pete was demonstrating field stripping various weapons, as he normally does ( as long as he remembers his glasses 😊 ). All the group were giving talks and answering questions whilst letting members of the public get up close and hold some of the guns.
There was a steady footfall throughout the day, of members of the public from the young to the old, many tales were told of military service days. Nostalgia was rife that day.
We are organising another display for September 2018. Once we have confirmed a date, it will be advertised on our Facebook page @historicweapondisplaygroup and on the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum website.
