LATEST INFORMATION

Please note that the information in this blog has been superseded and is now out of date.  The latest information on the COVID situation and the Reopening of the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum can be found by clicking on the button below.

At the moment the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum remains temporarily closed, but the most recent government steps give us hope that the light can be seen at the end of the tunnel.

During the closure, essential maintenance and security checks, etc have been taking place. Now that we have a possibility of reopening we have to work out how we can do this. Currently the Department for Culture, Media and Sport are working on guidelines for museums. We have seen the first draft of these and it looks as if we will be able to comply with the requirements.

It will not be the same as “normal” opening, but nonetheless we should be able to open the gates to visitors again once we have made various changes. It is a bit early to say what these changes are, but the guidelines are similar to those for supermarkets etc, so expect to see lines on the floor! We have started to plan a “one-way system” around the various buildings and we need to test whether these work.

A brief look at some of the route around the museum below:

Doubtless, the draft guidelines will change again before we get to reopen, and we will keep you up to date on this blog with our preparations, and when you can expect to be able to visit again.

Can you help the Museum

In these financially constrained time, we are grateful for any help that we can get in keeping the museum running.

The Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation  Museum gathers a great deal of its income from donations given by visitors as they tour the various buildings and aircraft.  Despite the temporary closure of the Museum and the subsequent lack of footfall through the museum, we still have ongoing costs in maintenance, insurance and utilities and there are two ways in which you can help.  Either by becoming a museum member or by making a donation.

To make a donation to the Museum please click on the button here.

If you would like to become a member of the Museum and benefit from what membership can bring, even if you do not live locally, please follow this link to our main website to see the full details of membership.

We thank you for any help given.
