Aviation Art and Model Day

Chairman’s Update on the Event

A very popular day at the museum on Sunday 22nd May.  the Aviation Art and Model Day at the Museum attracted around 600 visitors in total, including ~180 motorcycles from Copdock Classic Motorcycle Club and around 30 from another club (sorry, we forgot to ask your name). The Copdock club also had their display in place showing their work and some of the essential tasks undertaken by motorcyclists in the UK.

The day got off to an excellent start with three nice passes by the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Lancaster at 10:15 (photos and video below).

We had eight members of the Guild of Aviation Artists present who displayed previous works and were to be seen around the site creating new ones. West Suffolk International Plastic Modellers Society had six members present displaying their work and helping youngsters to create their own models available from their stand. Last but not least the Waveney Model Flying Group displayed their flying models, including a large scale four-engined Lancaster with an odd pilot and a (Super) Constellation.

The Lancaster flypast was caught on video as it made one of its passes by a volunteer member of the Team.

(I have just received another set of videos of the Lancaster Flypast taken from a different angle.  These videos, provided by another Volunteer on the day I will covert and format and they will included in the Next Online Flier which is due out early next week – Ed)
