R100 – Engine Telegraph

Engine Telegraph from the R100 airship ………… A fairly recent exhibit to be displayed is an Engine Telegraph from the R100 airship. Following the crash of the R101 in France on its maiden flight in October 1930, the R100 was ordered to be scrapped, despite the fact that it had a superior structural design by Barnes Wallis.

Captain Graham Keymer DFC .. 47 Sqn ………….   In 1919, volunteer personnel from 47 Squadron RAF were deployed to fight the Bolsheviks and served briefly with White Russian forces.  A casualty was Captain Basil Graham Homfrey Keymer DFC when the bombload on his DH9 exploded on take-off.  A chance find on eBay secured an oak
