Sunday 22nd April 2018 .. Busy Day

Sunday 22nd April 2018 .. A Busy Day at NASAM ….

Sunday the 22nd April 2018 turned out to be a very busy day at the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum.  The weather was fine, and during the day we were visited by three motoring/motorcycling clubs.  This proved to be a hectic day for the NAAFI and the on-site Volunteers, may there be many more.

Motoring Clubs:

The two Motoring Clubs were the Norfolk and Suffolk Branch of the Morris Minor Owners Club – Drive It Day and the Norfolk Centre of the MG Owners Club based at the Angel pub, Larling near Attleborough.

Update from the Club ….. “Our run for Drive It Day started at Southwold Pier car park.  Fourteen cars from the Branch started off at 10-30am to commence a 60 mile run.   Those with convertibles arrived already with their hoods down as the weather couldn’t have been better for our event.  The route was planned along part of the route of the Women’s Cycle Tour that came to our region during the summer of 2016.  Secretary Tricia and her husband Jimmy had planned the route that took in Beccles and Bungay and some country roads with all the lovely Spring colours, with a lunch stop at the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum at Flixton.  After this we travelled on through Harleston and The Pulham’s to Jimmy’s Cafe at Old Buckenham airfield where we ended the run.”  Tricia Loades

Approximately 15 MGs arrived in the morning.  Speaking to the members of the club they seemed to enjoy the day very much and spent a great deal of the day at the Museum.  Photos of the event can be found below.

Motorcycling Club:

The motorcycling club was the Triangle (Ipswich) M.C.C. Ltd and was a charity run in aid of the SERV Suffolk and Cambridgeshire “ The Bloodrunners” Charity.

Despite the organisers saying that “The event was very “weather dependent “, and it was expected that 50 to 80 riders would take part”, it seems that well over one hundred bikes made the journey.

A few other vehicles were on display
