Saturday Opening @ NASAM

Saturday Opening @ NASAM

This year for the first time (in many years) the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum will be opening Saturdays between 27th July and 31st August inclusive. These days will be a brilliant opportunity to get closer to the aircraft as we will be opening several of them, many for the first time.

Not all aircraft will be open all the time, but most of those available will be open each Saturday. Included are:

  • Valetta – get inside the aircraft and cockpit, see the VIP seats from the fifties as well as the layout when it was a navigation trainer.
  • Sea Prince – get inside the cabin, and view the cockpit (it’s too cramped to allow access inside).
  • Anderson Shelter – not strictly an aircraft but experience the inside of an Anderson shelter laid out as it was in the war, listen to the sounds of an air raid.
  • Gnat – get into the cockpit of our procedures trainer, over tens can try to start the engine by following the checklist (for under tens the volunteer will start the engine for them).
  • Provost – view inside the recently restored cockpit of this aircraft, unfortunately, it is too fragile to allow people to climb inside.
  • Sea Hawk – view inside the fully equipped cockpit, unfortunately, it is too cramped and difficult to climb into to allow people inside.
  • F27 Friendship – get into the cockpit and see the myriad of instruments and controls that an airline pilot has to learn
  • Spitfire – view inside the fully equipped cockpit of our replica Spitfire. Unfortunately, it is too fragile to allow people inside.

The cost of this is  £5 for all aircraft/exhibits and the pass lasts a year so if you can’t stay all day to see them all in a day you can come back another Saturday (or certain event days) to see them.  Individual aircraft passes  £2.  Under fives are free.

Information about each individual exhibit can be found on our main website Aircraft and Exhibit Access Page
