Scout Air Activities Day … 26 Oct 2019

Scout Air Activities Day …

Saturday 26th October 2019 saw both our last Scout Air Activities day of the year and our last major event at the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum. Participants took part in the Scout Association’s Air Activities badge stages two and three. Activities undertaken included learning about weather forecasting, navigation, parts of an aircraft (including what they are all for), the phonetic alphabet and what it’s like to be a pilot.

The Cubs present built and flew a Stomp rocket and polystyrene plate glider, the Scouts trimmed the polystyrene plate glider to fly straight and level, then perform turns. All the youngsters had a chance to “fly” the museum’s Link Trainers and computer-based flight simulators.

Volunteers also took the opportunity to start the change of the museum to winter configuration, moving the summer chairs into store, and the winter ones out. Further winter preparation will take place over the next couple of weeks.
