COVID Update + Open on Sunday 20th Sep …

In the light of the new restrictions issued by the UK Government regarding social gatherings, the SHARE Museums East have issued new guidelines to the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum concerning the gathering of people at the Museum.  The instruction is reproduced below.

COVID gatherings update

Following the announcement last week that gatherings of more than six people are banned from the 14 September, the Government has updated its official guidance. The guidance for heritage sites has been updated with new advice (section 2.1, Managing Contacts):

Venues following COVID-19 secure guidelines can host more than 6 people in total, but no one should visit or socialise in a group of greater than 6. It is also important that people from different households (who are not meeting as a support bubble) remain socially distanced.

As long as you are following the COVID-secure guidelines and are able to space out visitors so that they do not form clusters of more than six on site at any one time, then you can continue to open your site to its safe capacity.

The General Coronavirus Guidance has also been updated. It says:

3. Rules in other venues and activities
Venues following COVID-19 secure guidelines will be able to continue to host more people in total – such as religious services in places of worship – but no one should visit in a group of greater than 6. When you visit one of these places, such as a pub, shop, leisure venue, restaurant or place of worship you should:

  • follow the limits on the number of other people you should meet with as a group – no more than six people unless you all live together (or are in the same support bubble)
  • avoid social interaction with anyone outside the group you are with, even if you see other people you know
  • provide your contact details to the organiser so that you can be contacted if needed by the NHS Test and Trace programme

Note that from this Friday 18 September, participation in NHS Test and Trace is enforceable in law.

What does it mean to NASAM ??

Because of the new restrictions, the Museum has made some changes to the way we operate.  This has not affected the planned dates of openings.

Additional restrictions

To ensure that we can continue to remain open, we have therefore added the restriction that visitors cannot form clusters of more than six at any one time.  The updated restrictions and the fact that participation in the NHS Test and Trace system is now enforceable by law can be seen on our “COVID Situation” page on the blog @
